It's now been a year since my hubby and I started "lax" trying to conceive and I must admit that I am now quite frustrated with the whole process. To briefly introduce myself, I am 23 years old (quite young to have such issues) and have been married for just over 6 months to the most wonderful man in the world. About a week ago, someone posted in this group about her experiences of trying to conceive for about a year and finally realising she was pregnant this month. Like her, I have been taking herbal supplements to help to regulate my cycle. I suppose ultimately there's no other reason for my posting this entry here other than to vent my feelings/frustrations. I know I'm not the only one going through this situation, and I'm very interested in hearing everyone else's stories of TTC, particularly those with a positive outcome!

a year ago, my lover and i decided to have a baby. we'd been together 2 years, 8 months, knew we were committed for life and wanted to start a family. i was also 33 at the time and had been a heavy pill user. i'd been on the pill since i was 18 for 7 years straight. took a four year break, then went on again for another 3 years.

being a planner, i wanted to leave enough room to get the hormones out of my system and try naturally before i really started to freak out about possible infertility. medical literature states that it normally takes 3-6 months for a woman's body to reestablish it's pre-pill cycles. i've known women who've gotten pregnant within the first month of getting off the pill. intuitively, i knew that wasn't going to be the case for me. i've always had irregular cycles (partly due to being underweight, i'm 5'2" and weigh in at roughly 98lbs).

the first month off the pill was almost the only "normal" cycle time for me, coming in at 30 days. for the next 10 months, my cycles ranged from 29-49 days, some months being anovulatory. in that time, even with the assistance of ovulation predictor kits, i had a hard time determining when i was ovulating (if at all). so even tho we tried every single month, we weren't sure whether we timing everything right. it wasn't until i started taking my morning temps that i was able to confirm that i had ovulated at all that month. and much to my suprise, even tho the fertility monitor indicated ovulation, there were a few months that i didn't.

during this time, in an effort to try and regulate my cycles, i tried acupuncture and herbs. but this did nothing to help regulate my cycles. we also used ovulation predictor kits, as mentioned above (i recommend clearblue fertility monitor, $$$ but worth it). we tried pre-seed, a lube that helps the boys stay alive longer (and is the only fertility enhancing lube out there i think) - altho i should mention natural lubrication was never an issue, we were just trying things out. i even tried some old wives fertility methods, like elevating my hips post sex, doin' it missionary style, foot reflexology (and massage)... all just tall tales for me (altho maybe not the massages). getting pregnant was kind of like a social/scientific experiment for me and i was willing to try almost anything. i think had we not successfully conceived within 1.5 - 2 years, it would have changed from experimentation into something far more anxiety provoking.

sometime in the summer (10 months in), i came across an article about a fertility study that was being conducted at stanford using herbs. the proprietary formular known as fertility blend was shown to increase fertility and pregnancy rates in the study group.

After six months, 17 of the 53 women in the FB group were pregnant (32%), and four of the 40 women in the placebo group were pregnant (10%; p<0.01). No significant side effects were noted.

science, natural herbs, no side effects, stanford, success rates - all phrases immediately capturing my curiousity. so i started taking the herbs in late july. i'd been taking 2 pills a day for 2 months straight when i found out i was pregnant. i don't know if it was the pills, or that it just  took my body a year to regulate it's cycles (the last 2 months were within 30 days), but something worked, b/c i am now 5 weeks pregnant!

i'm starting this journal both to capture the experience of pregnancy (mostly for myself, since i am finding that my memory was one of the first things to go in the last few weeks) and share what i know and experience. i found online journals and stories of other women's experiences (primarily in trying to conceive) immeasurably helpful and validating, and as such, hope you might find these thoughts just the same.

So I took an HPT this afternoon and it's positive though a lot fainter than the last time I got pregnant (course that time I tested at 7.5 weeks this time only 4).

So looks like I should be due May 21 2007 barring anything unfortunate.

I'm so excited. Worried and excited.

Hi! New here. My fiance and I have been TTC since May 2006. On one occasion in July, I thought I was pregnant. We had four positive pregnancy tests, and then went to the doctors and had gotten a negative. I cried my eyes out, thinking I could never get pregnant. Of course, making a baby is HARD.

Well, now its September, and I've mised my period. Today I'm going to the drugstore to pick up a pregnancy test! Any certain brand I should buy, since I missed my period???

DH and I have decided to start ttc again. After being on the pill for 3 months I am glad to be off it. I have dug out my basal body thermometer again and am seriously considering buying an OPK but do not know anything about them. Ha I don't even know where they are located at Walmart, I thought they would be in with the condoms but I didn't see any. Also what brands are good and what ones are not? Is it cheaper to buy them off the internet or at the store? What is the difference between the different types out there? Thanks in advance for your help :)

Last month Fertility Friend was convinced I didn't ovulate, this month its saying I ovulated on CD 9 ... My average cycle is 36 days long, with the minimum being 30 days... theres NO WAY I ovulated on CD 9 ... I just don't know how I'm supposed to see patterns in my cycles with it doing this...

Does anyone here have PCOD? If so, how long were you TTC? Any natural remedies that help? My midwife is thinking I may have it (my previous doctor thought I did) and it scares me. My sister-in-law had it and they TTC for 3 years before having in-vitro. My husband are starting to try now and I (I'm sure like all women) want to have a baby soon, and am super worried that we won't be able to. My periods (I have been off of BC for 6 months, and will never go back on) have been kinda weird. The first was 2 weeks off, the second 4 days off, the third was a week off, the fourth is a week and 1 day off etc. Any suggestions or help? I've been taking Vitex but kind of sporadically. After my period I hope to take it more regularly...if I ever get my period. TIA!

I am currently starting my 3rd month on BCP to try and regulate my periods (my dr thinks I have Pcos). For those of you who have also been put on BCP to try and get regulated how long were you on it? Did it make any difference in your cycles? Have any of you ttc since? I
have to go back to the Dr's soon and would like to get off it but want to hear what some of you have to say about it.

So I am thinking of buying these two books : "The PCOS Diet" Book by Colette Harris and "PCOS and Your Fertility" by Colette Harris. Has anyone read either of these books or read any other good books to do with PCOS? I am ready to take back my body!

I had a miscarriage and ovarian cysts that required me to go the hospital May 23rd. I had my first period since the miscarriage on June 15th that was a normal period by all accounts. And now, I am bleeding AGAIN. I just started this morning. According to my calender, I should be ovulating right now.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening? Is this just an adjustment of my cycle or what? I'm not currently on any birth control since I'm letting my body totally heal itself before dumping hormones into it. I'm 39, and not having perimenopause or menopause yet. I scheduled an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow at 11:30, but until then does any one here have any clues as to what is going on?

Hey everyone,
hope you all had good thanksgiving dinners and time with family. Ours was really nice. We had Yvonne's sister (adopted) Wanda, her husband Chris and boys Wesley and Eric there. Jared, Shasta, and Teagan were there, as was Jordan's grandpa (Richard), and of course Alycia, Austin, and Rob (who I didn't get any pictures of because he's freakishly anti-social!)

Jared, Jordan, Shasta, Alycia, and I played a couple games of Texas Holdom. It was funny because Shasta had drank about 5 Mimosas' and was a bit rummy. I had 2 and was at the point where I was giggly. While we were playing uncle Chris took the turkey out (he was helping Yvonne cook), and was poking at it. He says: "Well the breast is done." Shasta and I burst out laughing, it just came out so funny, we kept giggling about it for while. Well a bit later Chris is talking to Yvonne about some knives, and says: "Oh those Japanese knives are great for boning." I started laughing so hard! He looks at me funny and asks me what I'm laughing about, I just kept giggling, and said if he didn't get I wasn't going to explain it. Then he made it worse and said "you know they're good for boning chickens" I lost it! Then Shasta came back and I told her what Chris said and she started laughing too. Jared, Jordan, and Alycia didn't get why we thought it was so funny, but they did all kind of laugh at Chris boning chickens. All in all it was a really nice evening. More so because I wasn't pregnant and dealing with massive heart-burn like last year! Well hope you all are doing well, God bless.

So I promised some pictures of Phoenix with his great-grandpa, well I only got 2 pictures. He got extremely fussy when my grandpa held him. I think he's really starting to recognize faces and voices. He wouldn't stop screaming! I've never seen him do that before, I think part of it was his teeth (he's starting to cut some and they bother him once in a while), but I think he was scared too. Ah well, here's all the new pictures, enjoy.

It's been 18 months (today) since I moved from New Berlin, WI to Spokane, WA. 18 MONTHS!!! I can't even believe it's been that long! Feels longer. I only say that because in 18 months I got married and had a baby, most people don't have all that happen within less then 5 years. Hell Jordan's sister Angela was with her husband for 9 years before they got married! They didn't get pregnant either! I must take after my mom, easily impregnated (she had 10 kids and there were even 2 miscarraiges! So we almost had 12 kids!) I'm just looking forward to things settling down. We're working on moving into our own place soon, getting our business off the ground, just some simple things. Things most people don't have to deal with when they first get married. Part of me feels like I lived 5 years worth of experiences in the past 18 months. I feel so old...so...distant from most my old friends. My single friends don't even return my calls anymore! A few of my engaged friends are nearly as bad! It's somewhat surreal.

Well in other news, my grandpa is coming into town with one of my cousin's. They're going to meet us for dinner so he can finally see Phoenix in person. He lives in Seattle and we weren't able to make it over there in Sep. like we wanted to T_T. My cousin Heather Nicole is considering going to a college down in Walla Walla, WA called Whitman so she flew from West Virginia to Seattle and my grandpa drove her down to Walla Walla. Heather's grandparents live up here in Spokane too, so that's why my grandpa wanted to come see us. I know he wants to meet his great-grandson. I'll be taking plenty of pictures, I plan to share them as soon as I get a chance ^_^. Well my eyes feel strange, I need to get off the computer.
